All of my bathrooms accept very erstwhile metallic toothbrush holders and lather dishes fastened to the wall. They are not congenital in. They are not fastened to ceramic tiles. They are somehow stuck to the wall. I cannot figure out how they are attached or how to remove them.

I tried to see if there was a metal embrace and maybe there was a screw under at that place, but when I did that, the entire holder moved and the drywall started to tear.

Does anyone take whatsoever ideas? If it helps, this is an 80'southward house.

My accessories have screw on plates with the pretty role sliding onto and covering the spiral. I'd effort, using a small hammer, to tap upwardly to remove. Considering the age, you might take to score effectually the plate with a utility pocketknife to notice the slidey expanse. Many coats of pigment can seal information technology up.

If you remember they are glued on utilize a hair dryer to heat the base of operations upwards and use some fishing line or a very thin wire to cut it off. Don't be stingy with the heat from pilus dryer, allow it heat upward for a while.

Some of the erstwhile metallic soap dishes and toothbrush holders were set on the wall with two screws. If the ones in your house are assault the wall like this, look for two screws right underneath. Loosen the two screws, and pull (slide) the holder up against the wall. Before you lot exercise that, make sure that the top and side edges of the holder are't sealed confronting the wall with caulk, or with layers of paint. If the edges are glued to the wall with paint of caulk, articulate the edges by cutting the paint or caulk betwixt the wall and holder with a utility knife.

Some other very old metallic tooth holders are set on a square metallic base on the wall. The base can take from one to ii screws, too. Again wait for at to the lowest degree one retaining screw at the lesser edge of the holder, and remove this screw. Make clean effectually the edge of the holder equally mentioned to a higher place, and lift UP the forepart border of the holder.

Sometimes i can't come across the screws beneath because these are covered with several layers of paint.

Delight note that without a photo there is not much nosotros can do for you.

I managed to loosen old pigment and whatever else was there around the edges. When I was attempting to see if there was a encompass/await for a embrace, I managed to partially pull it off the wall. It is definitely attached by two screws. There's definitely some drywall repair in my future. At this point, I'm just hoping information technology stays a small repair.

That's non a very old one. It should have a small screw underneath. Loosen the screw, and lift the front edge Upwardly.
